Dallas pt. 2

June 19, 2008

So.. remember Depths of Dallas? Now it’s the Lights of Dallas, which is a much brighter, happier, overall more joyful tone.. but overall the same type of song… Made in Reason once again. Yup. So enjoy.. and tell me what you think.

This was my experiment in making songs while going down to Dallas (though most of this was made after coming back.. but whatever) like David Crowder does on airplane rides.

Come Soon, Jesus

June 8, 2008

So I finished writing a new song.. called Come Soon.

This week we had morning prayer from Tuesday to Friday.. we met at 5:00 am in the morning to worship, pray and hear DY speak. Each sermon this week was about advancing His kingdom and finishing the job so that Jesus could come back. While we prayed… this one line kept popping into my head, and it got stuck in my head. Well, actually two lines did. One line was, “May your kingdom come and the reign of your son,” and the other was, “Come soon, Jesus, come Lord Jesus.” So from those two melodies and lyrics I was able to write out a song. Listen to it on our myspace and here are the lyrics:

I will follow You to the ends of the earth
Wherever you need me, I will be there
When you come back, there will be no more tears
There will be no more pain, and there’ll be no fears

May Your kingdom come
And the reign of Your Son
Let Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven

You said go into the world and to proclaim Your Word
Make followers, baptize and teach them
O how I long for the day, when you will come again
You are coming again, come soon, Jesus

Come soon, Jesus
O come. Lord Jesus

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name
Your kingdom come, Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven
Give us today our daily bread
Forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from the evil one
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever

Also, I just made a Facebook page for The Identity Nap, so please, if you have one, become a fan!

The Glory Of It All

June 3, 2008

So, since Paul is here, we’ve decided to play a lot of David Crowder songs for church on Sundays. Next week we’re playing Here Is Our King, Everything Glorious, Open Skies, and O Praise Him, and for the next week we’re planning on playing The Glory Of It All. So naturally, we needed a good loop for it, and all the ones that I had found were just okay.. So, I went in and made one myself, and here’s what I came up with!

The Glory Of It All

I think it sounds much closer to the recording.. so enjoy!

I Am Not Alone (Update)

So I posted random lyrics a while back… and I finally wrote some music to it just recently! Check out the song on The Identity Nap’s myspace!

Break My Heart

May 10, 2008

So I haven’t updated in quite a while… mostly ’cause there hasn’t been that much happening lately. AP tests, finals, school almost over… summer! That pretty much summarizes things.

In other news: our praise band is going to start incorporating loops for worship soon! W00t! I’ve been wanting to do that for quite a while now, so that should be exciting. I need to buy an audio interface to output loops and for recording… and I also wanna get this headphone mixer so we can have a good mixer to output IEM.

Anyway… this certain theme about surrendering and not compartmentalizing our life kept reoccurring during bible study with Daniel Kao. And I just suddenly got the inspiration to write a song about it, so here are the lyrics I came up with. All the verses don’t rhyme at all, so I might try to make it work better later, but I might just end up keeping it, cause I kind of like it… hehe. To listen to it, check out me and Paul’s myspace!

Title: Break My Heart

Artist: The Identity Nap
By: Isaac Sung

What’s up with all the people in the world?

Can’t they just stop placing God in a box?

Why can’t we comprehend that there’s more to church?

It’s not all just religion; there’s more to faith!

Break my heart, O God!

I need Your grace

I surrender my life to You

‘Cause you took my place

Sometimes it seems like there are too many hypocrites in the world

Too many people are just lukewarm and about to be spit out

O Lord we’re much too hardened, hardened in our hearts

I fear we’re headed down a path that leads to death and destruction!

O Lord!

I need you~

Break my heart, O God!

I need Your grace

I surrender my life to You

‘Cause you took my place

Change my heart, O God!

Your Spirit leads me on

I surrender my life to You

All my plans are gone

O Lord!

I need you~

O Lord!

Make me a new creation!

(repeat chorus)
